Enhancing the Quality of Legal Aid: General Standards for Different Countries

On behalf of all project partners – Law Institute of Lithuania, State-guaranteed Legal Aid Service, Lithuanian Bar Association, J. W. Goethe University, Legal Aid Board of Netherlands – we would like to kindly invite you to take an active participation in the international conference in the framework of EU project “Enhancing the Quality of Legal Aid: General Standards for Different Countries”. The conference will take place on 22-23 November 2017 in Vilnius (Lithuania).

Aim of the EU project. 
The project seeks to enhance the quality of legal aid services in criminal proceedings within the EU by developing common standards for legal aid provision and quality assurance / supervision and by raising capacity of legal aid policy makers, administrators and providers for ensuring high quality legal aid.

Partners in the project: Law Institute of Lithuania, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt (Germany), Legal Aid Board (the Netherlands), Lithuanian Bar Association and State-guaranteed Legal Aid Service (Lithuania).

Aim of the conference. The partners of the project have already conducted an assessment of the existing legal framework and practices aimed at ensuring high quality legal aid provision in criminal proceedings in their home countries – Germany, the Netherlands and Lithuania and will present the findings of the analysis at the conference. However, the aim of the conference is to provide a wider understanding of legal aid system models and ways of operation in terms of legal aid supervising as well as to exchange experience and best practices on organisation and implementation of legal aid in different countries.
